We are launching a new CAMHS Day Patient provision, offering intensive, compassionate and recovery-focused support for young people and their families. Sitting between inpatient care and intensive community support, this service enhances our acute risk pathway within Leicestershire. We are now recruiting motivated professionals who want to make a meaningful difference.
Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust is seeking a Band 4 Assistant Psychologist to support high-quality psychological care. This is an excellent opportunity for those aspiring to a career in psychology to gain valuable NHS experience. Under the supervision of a qualified psychologist, you will contribute to assessment, intervention and care planning. You will work closely with psychologists and the wider multidisciplinary team, support therapeutic groups, and assist with audits, service development and research. Strong communication skills, sensitivity, and a commitment to learning are essential. Applicants should hold at least a 2:1 in psychology and be eligible for BPS graduate membership. Young people in the service may have neurodiversity, emotional regulation difficulties, trauma histories and high-risk behaviours. You will be supported through supervision and a well-established Assistant Psychologist forum, alongside CAMHS-specific training. Our Day Patient Provision offers structured therapeutic programmes, multidisciplinary intervention and a nurturing environment where young people can stabilise their mental health, build resilience and work towards recovery while staying connected to home and school. Young people may present with emotional regulation difficulties, extensive trauma histories, ASD, intellectual disability and risk behaviours that place them at risk of hospital admission. The team provides intensive, psychologically informed support within the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the rollout of a new and innovative day service provision.
- Oversee routine screening and outcome measures, including developing systems and databases and supporting colleagues in interpreting data.
- Conduct case note reviews to inform comprehensive assessments.
- Facilitate and support therapeutic groups for young people, parents and staff.
- Develop resources to support clinical work.
- Deliver direct intervention work with young people.
- Support psychological formulation within the team.
- Liaise with CAMHS colleagues and external agencies.
- Assist in facilitating psychological assessments.
- Contribute to audit, research and service development projects.
