Band 3 Health Care Support Worker

Job summary

The Agnes Unit is a 12‑bedded assessment and treatment inpatient unit for adults with learning disabilities who have mental health problems, pervasive developmental disorders and challenging behaviour.

The Band 3 Health and Care Support Worker (HCSW) role requires building good relationships with patients, keeping up‑to‑date knowledge of care plans, and providing clinical leadership to the team.

Main duties

• Support the named nurse with direct and indirect patient‑care tasks.
• Support patients on escorted leaves.
• Participate in long‑term care planning meetings, including taking observations and contributing to care, activity, and strategy plans.
• Assist with the patients’ activity programme, working alongside therapies teams and ensuring plans are implemented outside therapy hours.
• Ensure care plans are followed.
• Complete any additional clinical or leadership courses required for the role.
