LEBC is seeking a Health & Safety Assessor to visit businesses across Leicester and Leicestershire to carry out Health, Safety, and Welfare assessments before young people begin their Work Experience placements. The role requires a local base, a full driving licence, and access to a private vehicle.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Arrange visits with placement host employers to assess risks and controls, ensuring safety for students before work experience or other educational activities.
- Advise employers on health and safety guidance, child protection, and data protection.
- Agree with employers on placement opportunities, learning outcomes, and assess risks and controls.
- Identify opportunities to increase the number of work placements and apprenticeships offered by employers.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with employers to grow placement and apprenticeship opportunities.
- Explain available LEBC services, including corporate social responsibility support and basic health and safety training for employers.
- Complete the online pro forma, recording role descriptors and risks accurately.
- Meet employer visit targets set with the senior assessor.
- Encourage employers to complete evaluation forms to gain feedback on the service.
- Participate in team meetings, contributing ideas for improvements and new developments.
- Travel extensively to schools and sites across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire; occasional travel further afield in the East Midlands may be required.
- Work may include duties outside normal working hours; overtime is paid as time off in lieu.
- Attend training courses, conferences, seminars, or meetings as required for personal development and company needs.
- Uphold LEBC’s commitment to safeguarding and child welfare; all staff and volunteers must share this commitment. Background checks and an Enhanced DBS will be required for this role.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary £27,000 to £29,500 per annum, based on qualifications and experience (pro‑rated to working hours).
- Full time 37.5 hours a week – Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (term time only, part‑time considered).
- Time off in lieu; flexible working system.
- Work from home with daily travel to local companies.
- Company pension scheme with 10% contribution.
- 25 days holiday plus 8 bank public holidays.
