About the Role
As a Senior Business Support Assistant you will be part of a friendly, motivated team committed to providing excellent customer service. The role includes back‑up to colleagues, supporting urgent work, and acting as first point of contact for external enquiries.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive business support services, both administrative and secretarial, coordinating local and statutory requirements and arranging statutory meetings.
- Take minutes of sensitive and confidential meetings, prepare documents in readiness, take minutes, distribute to professionals and enter outcomes into an in‑house database.
- Create, develop and maintain information systems and processes, including Microsoft Office packages to produce reports.
- Act as first point of contact for enquiries from schools, partners, voluntary and community organisations, agencies and members of the public, managing a generic inbox on a daily basis and communicating effectively to ensure children receive our services and to gather/monitor appropriate information.
- Line‑manage staff, including supervision and Annual Performance Review meetings.
- Support the administration of complex databases, ensuring all systems are accurate and maintained for auditing and analysis across service areas.
- Prioritise own workload to statutory deadlines and work as part of a team.
About You

- Have recognised academic qualifications (e.g., GCSE, A Levels, vocational qualifications, professional/further education qualifications) or NVQ 2 in Business Administration or equivalent level of relevant experience.
- Be trained and proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office, including spreadsheets and basic data analysis.
- Possess good organisational, verbal and written communication skills.
- Have excellent customer care skills and a full understanding of maintaining confidentiality.
- Produce accurate work to deadlines, including meeting notes, under pressure.
- Establish and maintain working relationships and communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
- Prioritise own workload, work under minimum supervision with a flexible approach.
