Rate: £15.71 per hour

Hours: 4 hours per week – Thursdays or Fridays, or possibly the weekend (to be discussed with the PA). During school holidays there will be more flexibility to include Mondays to Wednesdays as well.

Role Overview

An active young person requires support with personal activities.

Responsibilities

  • Participating in activities they enjoy and encouraging new experiences.
  • Attending scooter rides, swimming, hiking, skiing, travelling, dog walking, gym sessions, gaming, cinema, local town visits, and pub outings.
  • Accompanying the client with their routine and respecting their preference for minimal surprise.
  • Using simple, straightforward language, giving time for processing, and checking for understanding.

Preferences and Client Profile

The client enjoys activities such as riding a scooter, swimming, hiking, skiing, travelling, dog walking, going to the gym, gaming, cinema, going to town, the pub, yoga, and visiting McDonald’s. The client dislikes noisy environments, early wake‑ups, routine disruptions or changes without notice, surprises, unfamiliar locations, shouting, and exclusion. The client has been diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, Convulsive Syncope and Systemic Hypotension (requires drinking 3 litres of fluid before noon). Additionally, the client owns an assistance dog, Tesla, and a cat, Neo. Driving is not required as the client owns a Motability vehicle and a valid driving licence.

Qualifications

Applicants should be responsible, active, reliable, patient, and friendly. Experience or knowledge of working with adults on the autism spectrum or other neurological disorders is advantageous. Ability to communicate in clear, simple language is essential.
