About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established team while the substantive post holder is on maternity leave. The role is a strategic one, ensuring that Public Health services are fit for purpose across Leicestershire and Rutland and leading on efficiency and effectiveness of services within your portfolio.

You will be overseeing the commissioning of services that deliver to children and families, to people affected by domestic abuse and to people experiencing or at risk of substance use, with the potential for other work areas as required.

The role requires a high degree of partnership working to ensure join up with other services and commissioning approaches, and requires you to thoroughly research the evidence base, commissioning guidance and local need that will drive the approach you take. You will also have budget responsibility and form part of a team evaluating some of our key services.

In turn, you will be welcomed into an established and supportive team with an opportunity to further develop your strategic skills.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Have experience at the management level in a service area, aiming to improve the health and well-being of the population, and the ability to lead public health work programmes involving multiple agencies
  • Have a higher level qualification relevant to Public Health or substantial experience in planning or commissioning services for vulnerable populations
  • Be able to manage projects, deliver outputs in a systemised way and organise and prioritise effectively
  • Be able to provide specialist advice in the use of health improvement/resources in line with evidence-based practice and deliver evidence-based action meeting local need and national requirements
  • Communicate effectively and demonstrate good interpersonal and presentational skills
  • Have experience in planning and delivering public sector programmes across organisational boundaries and in achieving targets
  • Have well-developed numerical and analytical skills that can be applied to complex information and data sets, and experience in managing budgets and forecasting accurately
