Working for Nottingham City Council has great benefits, including competitive pay, great leave entitlement, and access to a generous pension scheme. We strive to create an innovative, inclusive, and progressive work culture where everyone is supported to do and be their very best.

In return, we are looking for people who are innovative, driven, and committed to serving and improving Nottingham. If you are passionate about making a difference to the lives of those who live and work in our city, we want to hear from you.

About the Role

The City Council provides a variety of services to citizens, all of which require administrative and customer-facing support. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Permit Support Officer to deal with all aspects of issuing on-street parking permits and blue badges to citizens and providing other administrative support across the Parking Regulation & Compliance team. The role will involve working with our busy customer-facing team, providing administrative support and excellent customer service skills to citizens who make contact with the service. The successful applicant will need to work on their own initiative with minimum supervision to meet tight deadlines; therefore, the ability to prioritise their own workload is essential.

About You

  • You should be able to use communication skills to deal effectively with citizens, businesses, councillors, and internal colleagues who make contact with the team.
  • You should be able to work as part of a team, developing an understanding of networks and working relationships within the team.
  • Knowledge of computer systems – specifically spreadsheets, databases, and word processing (Microsoft Office) and able to use general office equipment.
  • Strong self-motivation together with a flexible and committed approach to work.

At Nottingham City Council, we believe that work is what you do, not where you do it. We offer different working arrangements, depending on the role, including hybrid working.

Closing Date: 29th January 2026. Please note there may be occasions where we close the advert before the closing date, and we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. Interviews will be held: TBC.
