The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

Initial contract: 1 day per week (7.4 hours) across the academic year (38 weeks). Payment reflects the full working day – not just teaching or contact time – and includes planning, travel and development work. Travel between schools is covered within working time and staff receive a travel allowance of 55p per mile. As demand grows, there is realistic potential for increased hours and for you to expand your impact. Applicants must hold an enhanced with barred‑list DBS check. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑quality cello teaching sessions across schools.
  • Design and develop a new cello provision for students who have no current pupils learning the instrument.
  • Build confidence and enthusiasm in learners, inspiring them to develop as musicians.
  • Develop and adapt resources to suit learners’ interests, needs and abilities, ensuring appropriate challenge and independence.
  • Provide clear progression pathways from beginners through to developing players.
  • Promote the cello within the community, including support for high‑profile events such as a Cello Open Day at Leicester Haymarket Theatre and other outreach initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, students and families, communicating effectively and reliably.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to inclusive music education and to delivering accessible services for all residents.

Qualifications

  • High level of musical understanding, awareness and proficiency in your area of specialism (e.g., music technology, instrumental).
  • Experience performing, creating or facilitating high‑level music.
  • Inspiring, motivational, and able to build confidence and enthusiasm in learners.
  • Forward‑thinking, adaptable and committed to high‑quality inclusive music education.
