About the Role: We are looking for 1 support worker (1x 30 hours post) on a fixed term basis for 6 months to join our team at Melton Short Breaks & Supported Living Services, a purpose-built short break centre alongside 5 supported living bungalows. The service provides respite and supported living care for adults with learning disability, autism, physical disabilities and sensory impairments. This is a great opportunity to work as part of a team to provide person-centred care.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver day-to-day support, providing assistance with personal care, promoting choice and control, and maximising independence.
- Support adults with learning differences (disability) in the Supported Living Service.
- Work in accordance with Leicestershire County Council’s Employee Code of Conduct and the Skills for Care Code of Conduct for Adult Social Care Workers.
- Learn and follow in-work training with mentoring, coaching, and support from the team.
- Be responsive to the changing needs of a 24/7 service, including working weekends and bank holidays, and be willing to attend meetings or training outside normal hours.
- Use available equipment to assist with moving and handling and to support people with complex needs.
- Maintain clear, concise records with IT and written skills.
About You / Qualifications:
- Demonstrate a commitment to high-quality care and support that maximises independence, is anti-discriminatory, and adheres to relevant regulations and procedures (such as Adult Safeguarding and Valuing People Now).
- Ability to use equipment to assist with moving and handling and to support people with complex needs.
- Effective communication skills, including engagement with service users who may use alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton, picture boards, signs).
- Good organisational skills, ability to manage workloads, prioritise tasks, and stay calm under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and respond effectively to crisis situations.
- IT and written skills sufficient to write and maintain clear, concise records.
- Willingness to work flexibly, participate in a staff rota including weekends and bank holidays, and attend meetings or training outside normal hours.
