Work Location: Leicestershire Adult Learning Service, various locations including Loughborough and Whitwick

Salary: £35.76 per hour with three incremental/annual increases up to £38.79 per hour - hourly rate comprises payment for one hour of delivered teaching and equivalent time for preparation and other teaching-related duties (pay award pending)

Working Hours: up to 8 hours per week face-to-face teaching delivery with the equivalent for preparation and other teaching-related duties, fixed schedule, during term time (smaller contracts may be considered subject to service requirements)

About The Role

This vacancy is an opportunity to work within the Learning for Independence curriculum of the Leicestershire Adult Learning Service - GoLearn! - as a Fractional Tutor. The Learning for Independence curriculum specifically caters for adults with learning difficulties. Courses are delivered in a wide range of subjects across the curriculum and we are specifically looking for candidates with skills/experience in delivering catering and customer service related topics. The successful candidate will be able to confidently deliver and adapt their teaching and learning styles to meet the needs of all learners. All courses follow the principles of RARPA (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement), every learner has an individual learning plan and the accredited courses we deliver are accredited by AIM Qualifications and Assessment Group. Class sizes are between 8-12 learners and each group benefits from a dedicated Learning Support Assistant. The successful candidate will be working with diverse groups of learners in a vibrant and engaging learning environment. The hours indicated are paid at an hourly rate which includes provision for face-to-face teaching time and non-contact preparation/training time, which will be outlined in a working pattern letter. An enhanced with barred list DBS check is required for this post.

About You

  • Hold a Level 3 or above nationally recognised teaching qualification (if you do not yet hold a Level 5 teaching qualification, you must provide evidence that you will gain this within the first two years of employment)
  • Hold Level 2 or above qualifications in both English and maths
  • Demonstrate competence in the use of digital skills, including emails, web-based applications, word processing and digital teaching resources
  • Have experience in delivering adult learning
  • Have experience of working with learners who have moderate/severe learning disabilities
  • Be an effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Understand the principles of adult safeguarding
