About the Role
We are looking for people to deliver high‑quality care and support to adults with learning differences in our Supported Living Service. You will provide day‑to‑day support, personal care assistance, and promote choice, control and independence. No previous formal care experience is required; we are interested in individuals who share our values and celebrate individuality and diversity. We will provide the necessary training during working hours and have a supportive team to mentor and coach you. You will work in accordance with Leicestershire County Council’s Employee Code of Conduct and the Skills for Care Code of Conduct for Adult Social Care Workers. We will cover the costs for training and the DBS enhanced check (Adults Barred List), which is required for this post.
About You
To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrate a commitment to providing high‑quality care and support which maximises independence, is anti‑discriminatory, and adheres to relevant regulations and procedures (e.g., Adult Safeguarding and Valuing People Now).
- Willing to undertake training as necessary.
- Ability to use available equipment to assist with moving and handling service users and to support people with complex needs.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to engage with service users who may use alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton, picture boards, signs).
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workloads, prioritise tasks, and remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, responding effectively to crisis situations.
- IT and written skills sufficient to write and maintain clear, concise records.
- Responsive to meet the changing needs of a 24/7 service, including flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays, and willingness to attend meetings or training outside normal working hours.
