An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Technician to join our Highway Drainage Maintenance Section in the Environment & Preventative team at Leicestershire County Council. The successful applicant will join a motivated, friendly team of professionals working in the highway drainage team. The role includes:

  • Ordering works to maintain highway drainage assets
  • Investigating and resolving highway flooding issues
  • Engaging with members of the public and stakeholders
  • Working with contractors and operatives on site
  • Supporting the delivery of the role of Leicestershire County Council as the Highway Authority

The nature of the work may involve you carrying out work outside of normal working hours and at different locations than your designated base.

About You

You should have:

  • A BTEC Higher / NVQ level 4 in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification OR experience that meets the essential requirement for the role and can provide evidence of continued learning and development
  • Experience of working in an engineering setting, in relation to design, management, maintenance or construction processes
  • Experience of delivering projects and programmes of work to time, quality and cost
  • Collaborative working with key stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery of project briefs
  • Experience of undertaking measurements of work, checking submitted accounts and monitoring budgets
  • Good knowledge of current highway design standards, construction techniques, or maintenance standards and of CDM 2015
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, planning and organisational skills
  • Good IT skills, including use of CAD software
  • Skills to build positive relationships across stakeholders, peers and partners
  • A customer focussed approach where the customer experience is central to the delivery of the service
