About the Role
Leicestershire County Council is looking to appoint a Finance Support Assistant within our Managed Payments Team. In this role, you will play a vital part in enabling the timely and accurate payments of providers delivering essential care services, which include Residential Care, Shared Lives, Home Care, Day Services and Supported Living. The role ensures payments are processed efficiently and in line with agreed payment schedules, supporting both our providers and the people who rely on these services. We are looking for applicants who like being part of a vibrant team and enjoy working in a fast-paced financial environment serving the citizens of Leicestershire and attending to internal teams. Being customer focused, understanding the fundamentals of finance and being motivated to deliver change and strive within a performance management culture. This post will provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience and understanding of Local Government Finance by being a member of Corporate Resources, working with key stakeholders and partners across all levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payments accurately and on time.
- Managing weekly and monthly payment runs.
- Reconcile payments and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Analyse weekly reports to identify pending payments and take corrective action.
- Investigate and analyse negative payments.
- Liaising with providers and internal team for payment queries.
About You

- NVQ level 2 qualification in a relevant area (e.g. Finance or Business Administration) or similar appropriate equivalent.
- Experience of working with computerised financial systems and good knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and understanding of financial control within processes.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to delivering quality customer service.
- Effective communication skills (written, face-to-face and telephone).
- Ability to adapt quickly to change and new processes as the service expands.
