Position Details: Care Services Team Leader – Permanent position for 30 hours per week. Salary: Grade 9, £32,070 – £34,359 per annum (pro rata for part‑time). Working hours: flexible 30‑hour shift, participating in staff rota, including weekends and bank holidays as required.
Employment Eligibility: This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for new visa sponsorship applications; applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.
About the Role: The Care Services Team Leader will supervise and support staff in the short‑break respite services, ensuring high‑quality, person‑centred care for adults with learning differences, including learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities and sensory impairments.
- Oversee a multidisciplinary team of carers and support workers.
- Maintain high quality services through effective audit systems and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Identify and manage risks, conduct safeguarding, and implement action plans.
- Assist staff in using appropriate equipment for moving and handling people.
- Provide direct care and support to service users as required.
- Motivate and support staff, promoting the council’s values and celebrating individuality.
Qualifications and Experience: Applicants must demonstrate how they meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrated commitment to high‑quality care and support, maximising independence, and capability in moving and handling with equipment.
- Responsive to 24/7 service demands; flexible working, participation in staff rota, weekends and bank holidays.
- Experience in a supervisory or managerial position in social care, with strong IT and written communication skills for record keeping.
- Sound regulatory knowledge of the Fundamental Standards set by the Care Quality Commission.
- Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Analytical skills to reach defensible decisions, compile risk assessments, and ensure compliance with audit and inspection visits.
- Experience managing safeguarding risks and advising staff on safe service provision.
