About the Role
As a Health Protection Manager, you will support the Council in delivering its statutory health protection responsibilities, helping to protect the health of local communities. You will play an active role in preventing and responding to communicable diseases, outbreaks and wider public health risks, while contributing to emergency preparedness and resilience. You will coordinate and manage a programme of health protection work, ensuring priorities are delivered effectively and risks are identified and escalated. Working closely with partners including UKHSA, NHS organisations and local authority services, you will support incident response, provide assurance to vulnerable settings, and contribute to reports, briefings and risk assessments to inform decision-making. An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.
About You
To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:
- Be educated to degree level in a public health, health or science-related discipline, or have equivalent relevant experience
- Have experience working in public health, health protection, infection prevention and control, or a related setting
- Demonstrate experience of supporting the management of communicable disease incidents, outbreaks or complex enquiries
- Have experience of coordinating work programmes or competing priorities, including managing risks and reporting progress
- Be able to work effectively in partnership with a range of organisations, including health, local authority and wider system partners
- Have strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to interpret data and produce clear reports and briefings
- Be able to respond effectively to emerging issues, including working in pressurised situations
