Nottingham City Council
Closing Date: 7th September 2025
Salary:£51356 – £54495 per annum (Grade J) | Permanent | Full Time
Imagine shaping a city where greenspace powers both wellbeing and revenue.
Nottingham is already one of the UK’s greenest cities, but we’re not stopping there.
We’re investing millions into our parks, play spaces, biodiversity, and community wellbeing. We need a strategic leader who sees green infrastructure not just as a service, but as a platform for commercial innovation, civic pride and future resilience.
If you excel at maximising revenue, unlocking untapped potential, and leading at the crossroads of strategy, activation, and revenue, this could be your next big impact role.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading £3m+ Greenspace capital investment programmes, from inception to completion
- Leading the activation and commercialisation of our city’s parks and green assets.
- Developing new income streams, partnerships and funding bids (think Sport England, NLHF, S106)
- Oversight of leases, tenders, contracts and robust supplier relationships
- Annual fees & charges benchmarking and performance reviews
- Service-level financial forecasting and budget delivery
- Smart, inclusive use of public greenspace that enhances lives and service resilience.
Reporting to the Head of Greenspace & Natural Environment and helping shape a future where nature is at the heart of city life and pays its way.
Who We’re Looking For
You\’re an entrepreneurial thinker with strong roots in capital delivery, contract management or commercial planning, and a soft spot for urban greenspaces. You’ve likely worked in local government, consultancy, parks, sports, or environment-based industries.
- You’ll bring a track record of leading high-value programmes (ideally £1m+ capital projects)
- Experience in crafting or managing commercial partnerships and contracts
- Financial literacy, forecasting, fees and funding savvy
- Understanding of greenspace operations, biodiversity, or placemaking
- Confidence to matrix-manage stakeholders and present ideas at senior level
- Passion for public service, people, and place
What you’ll gain
- A senior service strategic role with citywide impact
- A chance to help shape a greener and more inclusive Nottingham
- A role with visible impact in your local community
- Supportive colleagues and opportunities for professional development
- Flexible working and employee wellbeing support
- Generous local government pension and holiday scheme
