Leicestershire County Council’s Contracts and Haulage Team are looking for a Waste Management Supervisor. The role will supervise the Waste Transfer Station and Internal/External Haulage operations.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist the Waste Management Officers and Senior Haulage Officer in providing visible leadership and direction for the Waste/Haulage team consisting of Operatives and HGV drivers. Responsibilities include management and operation of plant and equipment (HGVs, loading shovels, telehandlers and any other equipment on site), operational performance, financial management, staff training and development, ensuring services meet statutory duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications
- A GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
- BTEC, NVQ3 or equivalent / willing to work towards
- HGV licence
- Driver CPC
- Loading shovel/plant ticket / train the trainer qualification
- WAMITAB CoTC Level 3 (or working towards)
Experience
- Supervision of employees in the waste management or transport/haulage industry
- Management of HGV drivers in accordance with driver and vehicle legislation
- Experience in waste carriage, specialist haulage, waste transfer or similar work
- Planning logistics or vehicle movements
- Assessment of defects from daily driver checks and appropriate development, seeking feedback and demonstrating integrity and personal impact
- Working in accordance with Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Management systems (ideally in waste management)
- Knowledge of driver and vehicle legislation and practices
- Ability to work efficiently under constantly changing pressures and engage with key contractors effectively
- Computer literacy and familiarity with MS Office or equivalent, and industry standard software
- A full, valid driving licence
