Inspector (Transport) in Glenfield

We are looking to recruit 1 Inspector (Transport). Part-time, 3.5 days/25.9 hours per week, permanent contract. The successful candidate will travel around the County of Leicestershire, using local bus services, to carry out a programme of inspections of the bus services and timetable displays. Responsibilities

• To carry out inspections of buses, time-keeping and other matters relevant to the passenger experience.
• Assist with the collection of bus service data including on-bus passenger surveys, distribution of bus-related information and updating roadside displays.
• To inspect passengers' tickets for correctness, examine driver's documentation for accuracy and record usage and revenue of individual journeys.

Qualifications and Skills

• Hold a valid full driving licence.
• Have a good standard of education including English and Mathematics at GCSE Grade 4-9 (or equivalent) OR Demonstrable experience in the points below.
• Have good numeracy skills and experience of using spreadsheets and database systems to check information, input data accurately, update records and extract data.
• Have good interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to handle confrontation and respond to customer queries face to face in a calm and professional manner.
• Be able to understand bus schedules and timetables.
• Have good organisational skills with a logical approach to plan and prioritise work, together with a keen attention to detail and the ability to use own initiative and work with minimal supervision.
• Have knowledge of passenger transport issues.
