Join our Adult Social Care Finance team as a Benefits Case Officer and play a vital role in supporting vulnerable individuals across Leicestershire. As part of the Benefits Team, you'll help maximise income for service users and the Council by identifying and claiming under‑claimed benefits. You'll work with older and vulnerable adults receiving chargeable services—both residential and non‑residential—as well as those for whom the Council acts as Corporate Appointee or Court of Protection Deputy.
Key Responsibilities
- Identifying unclaimed benefits and assisting with applications.
- Liaising with benefit authorities.
- Conducting home visits across the County when necessary; therefore, access to a vehicle and adequate business insurance is essential.
- Balancing working life with personal commitments: we consider flexible working arrangements such as term‑time, part‑time, compressed hours, flexible start/finish, home/remote, as appropriate.
What we are looking for
- Strong experience managing caseloads and handling public queries, preferably within a means‑tested or disability‑related benefits area.
- Familiarity with financial data systems and Adult Social Care policies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid understanding of the Welfare Benefits system or ability to quickly develop such understanding.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
