An exciting opportunity has arisen for a well-organised and resilient individual to join the Children and Family Services Business Support Team as a Business Support Officer – Finance. The role requires ensuring the development of high quality financial and administrative support and systems across the Service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take day-to-day responsibility for specific Children and Family Services budgets, including budget preparation and monitoring of income and expenditure.
  • Collect, input, sort and extract financial information, and provide all budgetary control across the Service.
  • Provide financial information to support budget monitoring, strategic preparation, decision making and year-end closing of accounts.
  • Use LCC financial systems and Excel, ensuring information required for auditing purposes can be collected, collated and analysed efficiently.
  • Produce and present reports to senior staff, advising on CFS policies and strategy as required.
  • Ensure local policies and practices align with County Council policies and procedures.
  • Provide appropriate levels of staff support, prioritise and organise workloads, and manage cover on a daily basis.
  • Line-manage staff, including supervision, APR and APR review meetings, and absence management.
  • Organise, develop and deliver training for staff, and contribute to the induction process.
  • Provide backup support to colleagues across service areas, handling urgent work on a day-to-day basis.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Recognised academic qualifications (e.g., GCSE, A-Levels, vocational or professional qualifications) and training in ICT applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Experience in staff development and delivery of training.
  • Previous experience collecting and collating data, performing calculations and writing reports.
  • Experience working to strict timescales and meeting deadlines.
  • Proven ability to manage resources and resolve administrative problems.
  • Experience with financial administration and budgets, including monitoring, control, electronic purchasing, and handling of cash records.
  • Strong initiative, personal responsibility and accuracy in information handling.
