About Us: Oakfield Short Stay Primary is a dynamic and vibrant 30-place pupil referral unit. We are dedicated to ensuring every child achieves success and realises their potential. Our primary school operates across two bases, providing a supportive and engaging environment for pupils who join us following a permanent exclusion or dual registration.

Role Overview: As a Class Teacher at Oakfield Short Stay School, you will be central to our mission of supporting and inspiring learners with Social, Emotional and Mental health (SEMH) and Communication and Interaction (C&I) needs. You will teach a small group of pupils, delivering a creative, engaging curriculum designed to capture interest, build confidence and support meaningful progress.

Once established in post, there will be opportunities to contribute to outreach work across the county, working alongside mainstream settings to observe pupils, offer professional guidance and support the maintenance of placements. This aspect of the role will involve acting as a Local Authority officer, providing practical recommendations and tailored strategies to meet pupils’ needs in inclusive environments.

An enhanced with barred list DBS check is required for this post.

  • An inspiring teacher who takes responsibility for planning, preparing and delivering engaging, high quality lessons to a small group of learners, recognising and responding to differing levels of ability and needs.
  • A person with an ability to create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment that motivates learners, builds confidence, and fosters a positive attitude and lasting love for learning.
  • Experience working with children and young people who present with SEND, SEMH and C&I needs is essential, demonstrating a commitment to inclusion and belonging, ensuring all pupils feel valued and supported.
