About the Role
Join the Benefits Team of Adult Social Care Finance and help maximise the income of service users and the Council.
You will be working with older and vulnerable people in receipt of chargeable services in both residential and non-residential settings, and also with those for whom the council act as corporate Appointee or Court of Protection Deputy.
Your job will be to identify under-claimed benefits and then seek to increase service users\’ income via completion of claim forms and liaison with the benefit authorities, sometimes carrying out home visits.
About you
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of, or ability in:
- Substantial, demonstrable, and relevant experience of managing a caseload involving dealing with queries and correspondence from the public and experience of working with a computerised financial data management system.
- Knowledge of Adult Social Care policy and practice.
- The ability to effectively communicate in writing and converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Welfare Benefits system.
- To be able to work without direct supervision and manage own time effectively to ensure tasks are accurately completed and deadlines are met, acting with high levels of trust and personal accountability.
- Demonstrable understanding of the importance of confidentiality, data security and management.
- An understanding of and commitment to Equal Opportunities and be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustment, where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010.
