Oakfield Short Stay School is Leicestershire's provision for school aged children who have been permanently excluded or are at risk of permanent exclusion from school. We have expanded the age range of Oakfield School and, as a result, are recruiting staff to ensure an efficient, reliable, and usable ICT service to support curriculum and administrative provision. This role is part of a vital team during a period of development, working to meet the needs of children and young people aged 5 to 16 who struggle in mainstream settings.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the school’s network infrastructure, including wired and wireless networking, switching, routing and firewall configuration, with particular responsibility for pupil-based networking environments.
  • Translate the school’s Digital Strategy into robust, secure and scalable technical solutions, contributing to the continuous improvement of systems, services and infrastructure.
  • Manage and develop on‑premise and cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance and resilience.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to inclusion, ensuring all pupils feel valued and supported.

Qualifications

  • BTEC (Higher), NVQ4 or equivalent relevant qualification.
  • Experience of working with young people, preferably in a school or college setting.
  • Considerable technical skills, often gained through many years of experience.
  • Experience of responding to national changes within the educational landscape through strategic leadership.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non‑technical users.
  • Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic communication skills, able to relate well to people at all levels.
  • A collaborative and supportive approach, working well with colleagues across departments.
