This is a Senior Clinical Fellow post within the Imaging, Clinical Support & Imaging Services Clinical Management Group (CSI CMG). The post holder will join an established team of GI/GU diagnostic and interventional radiologists at the University Hospitals of Leicester.
Main Duties
- Support and develop GI/GU diagnostic imaging and non‑vascular interventional services working alongside consultant colleagues.
- Report complex cross‑sectional examinations (CT/MRI) and support ultrasound and fluoroscopy services.
- Participate in elective and emergency non‑vascular interventional procedures (biopsies, drainages, nephrostomies) with senior supervision tailored to experience level.
- Actively attend GI/GU MDT meetings as part of a tertiary referral hub.
- Contribute to training programme, assisting in tuition of Specialist Registrars and supervising radiographer specialists.

The department is a major tertiary centre providing a comprehensive range of specialist services. It offers a strong training programme with links to the East Midlands Deanery (South) and the University of Leicester Medical School. The Fellow will work in a high‑volume, complex clinical environment and can pursue a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) with consultant supervision and portfolio guidance.

Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent; success in FRCR Part 2A.
- Full FRCR Part 2B; full GMC registration; membership of relevant specialist societies or associations; higher degree (e.g., MSc, MD) or equivalent.
Experience
- Completion of specialty training in Radiology (UK or International); proficiency in reporting acute CT and general cross‑sectional imaging.
- Experience in tertiary‑level non‑vascular interventional procedures (CT guided biopsies, drainages, nephrostomies, biliary intervention, oesophageal stenting, RIGs).
- Experience in CTC reporting, MRI prostate reporting.
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to apply clinical knowledge to GI/GU imaging and prioritise clinical need within MDT.
- Evidence of completing audit or quality improvement projects.
Clinical Skills
- Competency in basic IR: independent in ultrasound/CT‑guided biopsies and drainages.
- Advanced non‑vascular IR experience: biliary intervention, oesophageal stenting, RIGs; portfolio evidence.
- English language proficiency meeting GMC requirements (e.g., IELTS minimum 7.0 each area, overall 7.5, or OET Grade B).
- Experience working in a UK clinical environment for 6+ months.
