Responsibilities

  • The Phlebotomists provide a service to both inpatient and outpatient areas at all three UHL hospital sites including East Midlands Planned care centre at Leicester General Hospital.
  • Full training is available, but we would like you to have had customer service experience in your recent past preferably in a caring environment.
  • You will also need to prove that you have the ability to work on your own initiative and to tight deadlines in a pressurised environment.
  • You must be able to walk, bend and handle medium loads over extended periods of time.

Training & Qualification

  • Satisfactory level of general Education
  • Good standard of written and spoken English.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to further learning and development.
  • Educated to GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year experience of working with the general public in a customer focused environment.

Communication and Relationship skills

  • Ability to deal effectively & empathetically both formally and informally, both orally and in writing when dealing with service users.
  • Ability to communicate both formally and informally, both orally and in writing when dealing with people.

Planning and Organisation skills

  • Ability to prioritise and work to strict deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently.
  • Pays attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm and work under pressure.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • Flexibility of working hours and location to meet the needs of the service.

Skills

  • Basic PC skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications including email.

Other requirements specific to the role

  • Ability to exert moderate physical effort on an ongoing basis including walking and bending.
  • Good manual dexterity.
  • Able to fulfil all aspects of the job description.
