Higher Clinical Fellow ST3+ in Neuro Rehabilitation

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) is recruiting a Higher Clinical Fellow (ST3+) in Neurorehabilitation Medicine to join our well‑established and supportive specialist rehabilitation service. The position is a 12‑month fixed term starting as soon as possible and is based mainly at Leicester General Hospital with cross‑site working across UHL hospitals as required.
The role offers an excellent opportunity for doctors with MRCP to develop advanced clinical, leadership and research skills in inpatient neurorehabilitation, including acquired brain injury and complex neurological conditions.
Main duties of the job
- Hands‑on experience in Specialist Neurorehabilitation and Brain Injury Units
- Day‑to‑day inpatient management alongside experienced consultants and multidisciplinary teams
- Supervision and mentoring of junior resident doctors
- Participation in audit, governance, service development and research
Qualifications and Experience
- MBBS or equivalent with full GMC registration
- MRCP Part 1 achieved (full MRCP desirable)
- At least 2 years experience at IMT/rehabilitation level (UK or overseas)
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate, patient‑centred approach
- Interest in neurorehabilitation, leadership and multidisciplinary teamwork
Skills
- All Foundation Competencies met (completion of F2 or CREST form)
- Demonstrable ability to perform clinical procedures and make clinical decisions at the level of a ST3+ registrar (e.g. spinal tap and drains, lumbar punctures, ultrasound‑guided lines, joint aspiration, airway management)
