We are excited to announce that an opportunity has opened to work within the Foundation, as a Senior Education Officer. Our aim as an education provider is to help young people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland who have been unable to gain a place at Further Education Colleges or Apprenticeships. Typically, these young people need additional time in an environment which is a little more relaxed than Mainstream School/College.

The primary focus of the role will be to deliver the Leicester Tigers Foundation Education programmes. Being responsible for the progression of a variety of young adults and children with designated NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) or Out of School status, via weekly Education and Employability focused programmes back into Further Education Courses, Apprenticeships or Employment where necessary.

Reporting directly to the Head of Education, the successful candidate will be working in a unique and exciting environment. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • To be an integral member of the Education Team and work effectively with the Head of Education and Education Officers to deliver across different education programmes.
  • To be responsible for high quality delivery of classroom and physical activity sessions, including functional skills (Maths and English) and work-skills programmes.
  • To be responsible for positive outcomes for young people, both from academic success and with positive progression routes through Apprenticeships, Further Education courses or employment where applicable.
  • To engage with local organisations and partners in the pursuit of additional opportunities for the Education Department and the Leicester Tigers Foundation, including the recruitment and retention of learners.
  • To work closely with cohorts of young people progressing them through relevant engagement sessions to achieving measured academic outcomes and qualifications, working in partnership with Tigers Learning Providers.
  • To oversee and implement behavioural strategies, safeguarding and ensuring that Leicester Tigers Foundation can safely accommodate a wide variety of learners, within our courses.
  • To liaise and link with local businesses to allow young people to gain work experience.
  • To support work towards key performance indicators and target, set in accordance with the Head of Education, keeping accurate monitoring records for all sessions and contribute to the gathering and analysis of evaluation information for activities.
  • To identify and direct young people onto relevant training and volunteering opportunities with identified partners to support positive progression outcomes and future prospects.

Qualifications

  • Experience of teaching within a range of challenging environments.
  • Experience of teaching either Maths and English (Functional Skills or GCSE) and the desire to be accountable for the attainment of the young people.
  • Experience of leading other members of staff, monitoring academic achievement, safeguarding and behavioural policies.
  • Experience of working with young people with a range of challenging backgrounds. Including those with adverse childhood experiences, those engaged in anti-social behaviour and criminality, and those with complex special educational needs.
  • Able to demonstrate an awareness and understanding, being passionate in working to support vulnerable and disengaged young people, demonstrating the highest professional standards and strong behavioural management skills.
  • Excellent communication and motivation skills, with the ability to inspire others.
  • The ability to obtain an Enhanced RFU DBS Certificate.
  • A full and valid UK driving license.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Accredited teacher qualification
  • Experience teaching SEND students.
  • Experienced competent Level 2 NGB Coaching certificate.
  • To have the ability to accept change and unsociable hours as needed
  • Possess sound numeracy, literacy and IT skills
