Start Date: ASAP
Main Purpose: To oversee the maintenance, cleanliness, and security of the school site, ensuring a safe, clean, and wellâmaintained environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site & Staff Management: Lead and supervise cleaning staff, ensuring high standards of work. Plan and implement cleaning, maintenance, and repair schedules with senior staff. Monitor staff performance and allocate duties effectively. Manage cleaning supplies and stock levels.
- Maintenance & Operations: Carry out general repairs, maintenance, and emergency fixes. Maintain school buildings, grounds, and equipment to a high standard. Support longâterm maintenance planning in line with school development goals. Move furniture, handle deliveries, and respond to spillages or hazards.
- Security: Open/lock buildings and manage alarm systems. Respond to alarm callâouts and emergencies outside normal hours if required. Maintain keys and ensure site security at all times.
- Health & Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and school policies. Conduct routine checks (fire alarms, emergency lighting, water temperatures, etc.). Act as Fire Marshal Lead and support emergency procedures. Report hazards and ensure safe working practices.
- Grounds & Cleaning: Oversee cleaning of classrooms, toilets, and communal areas. Maintain external areas including paths, drains, and play areas. Ensure grounds are clean, safe, and presentable at all times.
- Facilities & Systems: Monitor heating systems, boilers, and water systems. Carry out basic electrical tasks (e.g. replacing bulbs, PAT testing after training). Identify faults and arrange repairs with contractors when needed.
- Administration: Maintain records (safety checks, maintenance logs, orders). Coordinate with contractors and ensure compliance on site. Support development of health and safety documentation.
- Emergencies: Respond to issues such as leaks, flooding, fire, or damage. Liaise with emergency services and contractors when required.
- Training & Development: Undertake relevant training to support the role.
- Additional Requirements: Flexibility to work outside normal hours when needed. Attendance at training or meetings as required. Enhanced DBS check required.
