About The Role & Who We’re Scouting

We’re on the lookout for a passionate and skilled Women's Safeguarding Manager to join our team at LCFCW. As Women's Safeguarding Manager, you’ll play a key role in providing effective safeguarding leadership for the Leicester City Women’s Football Club Women (LCFC Women) and Academy (including supporting U18 players involved with the First Team). Assisting the Club to deliver its safeguarding strategy, vision, values, priorities, policies and aims to promote and protect the welfare of children and adults at risk.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • To provide safeguarding management for LCFC Women, which effectively implements the Club’s Safeguarding Strategy under the leadership, direction and guidance of the Head of Safeguarding.
  • To act as LCFC Women’s Safeguarding Manager in accordance with FA/Women’s Super League providing safeguarding advice and guidance in conjunction with the Head of Academy and Head of Operations and Governance.
  • Maintain the Single Central Register, ensuring training and DBS certificates remain up to date.
  • Supporting the HR team with the safer recruitment of staff.
  • To provide guidance and support to the team of Designated Safeguarding Officers/Champions across LCFC Women First Team and Academy.
  • To be responsible for ensuring appropriate arrangements are in place for any players U18 who are training and playing matches with the First Team.
  • Co-ordinate safeguarding self-assessment audits throughout the season for LCFC Women First Team and Academy, under the leadership, direction and guidance of the Head of Safeguarding and Head of Operations and Governance.
  • To contribute to the provision of annual safeguarding training and CPD and maintain training records for LCFC Women staff in line with the Training and Development Plan under the management, direction and guidance of the Head of Safeguarding and Head of Operations and Governance.
  • To provide guidance and support with safeguarding risk assessments for the LCFC Women’s first team and Academy and support staff to develop and embed bespoke safeguarding risk assessments across all activities.
  • To act as the first point of contact for staff, volunteers, parents, children, young people and adults at risk where concerns about safeguarding, poor practice or abuse are identified within LCFC Women first team, academy and at games.
  • To develop and deliver a safeguarding education programme for first team players.
  • Safeguarding lead for all LCFC Women home games.
  • To effectively manage any safeguarding incidents or concerns arising under the leadership, direction and guidance of the Head of Safeguarding and to effectively report any safeguarding incidents and concerns to the Head of Safeguarding using the Club’s reporting and recording procedures who will share with the Head of Women’s Football and Club’s senior safeguarding staff as appropriate.
  • To act as Prevent Lead for LCFC Women and develop the Academy.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience working within safeguarding, and specifically have the following:

  • Holds and maintains an expert level of knowledge and understanding of current safeguarding issues, legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice including the management of safeguarding incidents, concerns and allegations of poor practice and abuse and ideally a working knowledge of local arrangements for safeguarding children and adults at risk.
  • Experience in offering safeguarding advice and support to colleagues, vulnerable groups, and their parents/carers within a comparable organisation.
  • Experience of developing monitoring, quality assurance and improvement processes.
  • Experience of safeguarding training/education development, delivery, and evaluation specific to individual roles and responsibilities within a comparable organisation.
  • Experience in working directly with young people preferably in an educational or similar setting.
  • Knowledge and experience of identifying and managing risk.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to safeguarding with a child and adult at risk focused approach.
  • Enhanced FA DBS.
  • Hold an in-date FA Safeguarding Children Certificate.
  • Have experience as a safeguarding and/or welfare professional with a relevant degree level/professional qualification or other extensive relevant safeguarding education and experience.
  • Holds a Mental Health First Aid qualification would be desirable.
  • Holds an in-date FA First Aid Certificate or is willing to complete the FA First Aid Course within 3 months.

In May 2021, LCFC Women were promoted to the FA Women’s Super League. From its formation in 2004, the Club was run on an amateur and semi-professional basis with support from Leicester City Football Club. In August 2020, the Club turned professional after being acquired by King Power International – Leicester City’s parent company – and realigned as a core team in Leicester City’s football operation.
