About the Role

As an Apprentice Sports Turf Operative, you will gain practical, on-the-job experience supporting the maintenance and preparation of high-performance playing surfaces across our training facilities. Working alongside experienced professionals, you will develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to succeed within the sports turf industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with routine pitch maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, and line marking
  • Support the application of fertilisers, herbicides, and pesticides in line with safety standards
  • Learn and assist with specialist tasks including aeration, scarification, and topdressing
  • Monitor pitch conditions and report any issues to senior team members
  • Gain hands-on experience operating groundskeeping machinery (mowers, sprayers, irrigation systems)
  • Support routine maintenance and basic repairs of equipment
  • Help maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment, including equipment storage
