Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent.
A new and exciting role within the Homelessness Service in the Housing Division, working in the Temporary Accommodation Team.
The team delivers a customer‑focused service that supports vulnerable households to maintain their accommodation and move towards longer‑term housing solutions.
This is a full‑time permanent position working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday.
You will have flexibility in hybrid working (office based at the Dawn Centre or remote from home).
You must work a minimum of three days from a non‑home location and travel across the city for home visits.
- What You’ll Be Doing
- Create and terminate rent accounts, collect rent, and monitor Housing Benefit claims to maximise income for the authority.
- Manage temporary accommodation rent accounts from set‑up to closure, ensuring accurate records.
- Recover outstanding arrears and agree sustainable repayment arrangements with residents.
- Monitor Housing Benefit and Universal Credit claims, conduct affordability assessments, and provide income‑maximisation advice.
- Conduct home visits, discuss rent accounts with residents, and take appropriate action when repayment agreements are not adhered to.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to provide holistic support and maintain accurate reporting records.
- What You’ll Need
- Experience working in housing, homelessness, income management, welfare benefits or a similar customer‑focused environment.
- Strong understanding of Housing Benefit, Universal Credit and/or rent account management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, problem‑solving, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage a varied caseload, and remain resilient under pressure.
- Compassionate, enthusiastic, and committed to delivering high‑quality, customer‑focused service to homeless and vulnerable households.
- Potential or experience in coordinating or managing a team.
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
