Full Time / 37 hours per week / Fixed Term for 12 months

We\’re looking for a motivated Project Manager to lead the delivery of a range of managed projects within Leicester City Council\’s Finance Division.

Working on strategically important projects that help improve and modernise finance systems, processes, and services, supporting frontline and corporate functions across the Council. You will be responsible for managing project delivery from initiation through to completion, working closely with a range of internal stakeholders, ICT colleagues, external suppliers, and project boards.

The role is full-time for 12 months, working 37 hours per week, based at City Hall, Leicester, with hybrid working arrangements.

You\’ll work both from home and our city centre offices, with the flexibility to manage your work-life balance.

What you\’ll be doing

As Project Manager, you will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of business and operational change projects to improve finance systems and processes. You will develop and maintain project plans and RAID logs, manage internal resources, and monitor supplier progress to ensure delivery within agreed time, cost, and quality tolerances.

You will chair meetings, report to governance boards, and manage risks and interdependencies across workstreams. These projects will vary in size and complexity, requiring you to balance attention to detail with strategic oversight.

Supported by the wider Finance Projects Team and will work closely with the Financial Projects & Systems Manager, Heads of Service, and stakeholders across the Council.

What you\’ll need

You will have a track record of successfully managing system or process improvement within a public sector or regulated environment.

With excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and maintain momentum across multiple workstreams.

A structured and organised approach to project management is essential, along with the ability to juggle priorities and respond to changing circumstances. You will be confident managing suppliers, chairing meetings, and producing clear documentation for governance boards and senior stakeholders.

Ideally, you will hold a project management qualification such as PRINCE2, APM or equivalent, and will be comfortable using collaboration and planning tools.
