Are you ready to join one of the largest Unitary Authorities in England as we embark upon an ambitious programme of transformation?
If so, come and joining the Procurement Team at Leicester City Council. This exciting opportunity is for a Procurement Manager within our Procurement Services team. You will be working in a fast paced highly dynamic Mayoral Authority with an annual spend of £400m, to procure a whole host of critical contracts for goods works and/or services.
This role plays a key part of improvement, development and innovation of the Procurement service. You can expect autonomy and encouragement in providing new ideas, along with an incredibly varied role where no two days will be the same.
You\’ll work 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday as part of our flexible working scheme. With hybrid working you\’ll be based at Home and Leicester City Offices currently min. 1 day a week from the office City Hall, Charles Street, Leicester.
What you\’ll be doing
Developing and implementing procurement strategies for categories of goods/works or services. While, using your innovation and creativity to manage demand, deliver efficiency savings, service improvements and strategic objectives of the Council. You will be pragmatic, solution-focused and able to work in a multi-disciplinary environment with internal and external partners.
You will act as procurement lead on a wide variety of high profile/highly complex and strategic projects. Participating in, cross-functional project teams to deliver corporately significant high value/risk complex procurement projects.
As part of a team of professionals in the delivery of the Council\’s procurement function you will help develop, mentor and coach an existing team of procurement staff, and promote the implementation of good practices and procedures among the team.
What you\’ll need
With significant experience and knowledge of public sector procurement, tendering and contract management processes, including complex, high risk and value projects.
You\’ll have experience of using procurement to achieve \’social value\’, i.e. to encourage economic regeneration, local employment and skills development and environmental improvements.
As well as, experience of developing and implementing procurement strategies for certain categories of goods, works and/or services. Including, Procurement Act 2023 training (TPP) or commitment to complete within 4 weeks of starting.
