Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term for 18 months

Play a key role in managing an efficient and client focused Passenger Transport service.

Join us to lead our large Passenger Transport Team within the council\'s SEND & Education Division. This is crucial role in managing and co-ordinating both people and a transport service and be driven to lead a high performing team and reducing reliance on taxis.

You\'ll work in a variety of environments and locations such as an office base, transport depots, in the field or working from home. This is a full-time, fixed term post for 18 months working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday. The service operates from 6.30am until 5.30pm and your working week will be undertaken within these hours.

What you\'ll be doing

Working closely with the Service Manager, you\'ll oversee a team of over 120 people, managing client relationships, identifying income opportunities, undertaking budget management and logistical planning. Your daily activities will include ensuring that all transport routes are running in the most efficient way possible, health and safety and associated risks assessments are complied with and undertaken appropriately, statistical production and analysis alongside day-to-day staff management. Liaising with internal and external partners, you\'ll ensure the efficient running of the team and promote partnership working to ensure we continue meet legal obligations alongside corporate and local priorities. You\'ll also have contact with both the public and the parents of service users regularly.

What you\'ll need

With the ability to motivate yourself and others, you\'ll have relevant experience of vehicle scheduling and logistics ideally in a specialised passenger transport service. You\'ll be able to problem solve, work under pressure and to tight deadlines to be able to effectively prioritise work and conflicting demands in those circumstances both for yourself and members of your team. Using proficient IT skills, you\'ll be enthusiastic and adaptable to allow you to champion new systems and solutions. A strong leader, you\'ll create a positive working environment.

Appointment will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and ideally be the holder of a Transport Managers CPC.
