We’re seeking a part‑time child‑support worker to join the Children and Young People’s Justice Service (CYPJS) in Leicester. Your role will help prevent young people aged 10‑17 from becoming involved in crime, anti‑social behaviour and exploitation, and reduce the risk of re‑offending.
This permanent, part‑time post (15 hours per week, two days a week – Monday and Friday) will require occasional evening and weekend availability. You’ll work across a range of youth centres, neighbourhood centres and council buildings.
What you’ll be doing:
- Work directly with children and their families, providing a supporting role to reduce risk of offending behaviour and safety concerns.
- Implement effective interventions to promote well‑being and improve outcomes.
- Support CYPJS engagement work within community settings (schools, crime hotspots) and encourage participation by children and families.
- Assist in helping children achieve positive outcomes by developing their strengths and aspirations.
- Collaborate with a multi‑agency team that includes police, schools, social care, SEND, mental health services and local community organisations.
What you’ll need:
- Experience working with children and families dealing with complex risks and needs, and the ability to respond appropriately.
- Experience coordinating with statutory and voluntary agencies, local community organisations and volunteers, with direct work with children.
- Self‑initiative and teamwork skills, ability to work independently and as part of a wider multi‑agency team.
- Knowledge of diversity, cultural sensitivity and how to adapt support to meet community needs.
- Subject to an Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
