We are looking for someone with a keen interest in Human Resources to join our team of advisors who advise on HR casework at Leicester City Council. The role will provide administrative support to the team as well as giving you your first step into a career in HR. You’ll gradually be exposed to HR casework alongside your administrative duties in this fast-paced team.

Within this role, you’ll be offered the chance to undertake a Level 3 CIPD-accredited apprenticeship as part of the role, which will include 20% of your time being dedicated to these studies. This is a full-time, permanent role working 37 hours Monday to Friday. Typical office hours are 8:30 am to 5 pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30 am to 4:30 pm on Friday. The team are based in the City Centre but travel across the City as required to support HR processes in our many different locations. The team utilise hybrid working so you can work from home but are expected to attend a Leicester City Council building at least two days per week. Initially you’ll need to be in the office full time so we can help you settle in and learn the ropes!

What You’ll Be Doing

  • The administrative side of the role will include supporting HR Advisors by arranging meetings, taking notes, collating data and producing HR documentation.
  • As you progress with your HR skills you will become involved in cases relating to absence, conduct, capability and organisational change.

What You’ll Need

  • Ideally you’ll have good administrative and IT skills and experience of working in a team as well as on your own initiative.
  • You should have some knowledge of terms and conditions of employment and/or HR policies and procedures and be hungry to learn more.
  • This role is ideally suited for someone with an interest in moving into an HR career who wants the support of a strong team around them as well as the willingness to undertake a formal qualification.
