What You’ll Be Doing:
- Prepare graves for burial, backfilling and subsequent aftercare either mechanically or manually using shoring, shuttering and plant equipment.
- Locate graves using cemetery plans and maps, prepare and dress graves for funerals, level and turf graves and surrounding areas.
- Operate and cleanse powered and manual hand tools, specialised plant and other equipment.
- Liaise with Funeral Directors and members of the clergy to discuss issues in preparation for future burials.
- Carry out exhumations and assist in the development of soft and hard landscaping and other horticulture activities as needed.
What You’ll Need:
- Experience of outdoor work using construction or agricultural machinery with knowledge of basic maintenance, motor vehicles or other mechanical equipment.
- Empathy and compassion to deal sensitively with members of the public and others during times of personal stress and grief.
- Basic admin skills to ensure records of interments are accurate and up to date, and to complete all necessary paperwork.
- Valid driving licence.
