Are you passionate about helping every child reach their full potential? We are looking for a dedicated and detail‑oriented SEND Inclusion Officer (EHCP) to join our team in Leicester City.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage a caseload of children, young people and adults (aged 0 – 25) for statutory assessment and Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans to ensure they meet statutory requirements.
  • Prepare, propose and amend EHC plans in line with the Children and Families Act 2014, Education Act 1996 and the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Analyse reports from education, health and social care professionals to inform the writing of high‑quality, legally compliant plans.
  • Liaise with a range of agencies to co‑produce tailored support for children and young people with SEND across education, health and social care.
  • Prepare and present cases to Local Authority panels and follow up on outcomes.
  • Attend and contribute to complex, sensitive meetings.
  • Manage a caseload of mediations and SEND Tribunals.
  • Coordinate annual reviews for pupils with EHC plans not on a school role, including those who are permanently excluded, electively home‑educated or receiving EOTAS.
  • Represent the Local Authority at appeal hearings and mediation with a solution‑focused, child‑centred approach.

What you’ll need:

  • Experience of Special Educational Needs within a Local Authority or statutory body, ideally within a specialist area involving multi‑professional assessment and appeal procedures.
  • Knowledge of the Children and Families Act and the statutory process for an Education, Health and Care Plan.
  • Experience of putting together bespoke education packages for children and young people with complex needs (advantageous).
  • Ability to work confidently with parents, schools and other agencies, providing clear and concise advice.
  • Work in a sensitive and confidential environment, proactive, meeting relevant timescales professionally and timely.
  • Full commitment to the aims and objectives of social inclusion, dedicated to removing discrimination where it occurs.
