Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term Full‑time position based in our children’s homes, undertaking repairs, maintenance and health‑safety monitoring of the buildings.
You’ll support young people in the care of the Local Authority and those that have left care, helping them develop independence and DIY skills within the children’s homes or in their independent accommodation.
The role is based in various locations across Leicester City.
Responsibilities Work with residential and Leaving Care teams in a staff group of 15 to 25.
Duties include: Property repairs and maintenance, including painting and decorating.
Electrical and plumbing repairs.
Health and safety monitoring (water temperature, fire safety checks, etc.).
Recording findings and maintaining electronic records and risk assessments.
Provide basic DIY training to young people.
Support youths in setting up independent accommodation.
Oversee and monitor contractor work when outsourced.
Requirements Experience in building repairs, maintenance, painting, decorating to a reasonable standard.
Ability to plan, organise and complete work schedules.
Proficient numeracy, literacy and IT skills for electronic records.
Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work duties.
Subject to enhanced DBS and social care checks.
