Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent. Join our dynamic and vibrant Registration Services Team to provide a professional and customer focused approach to frontline service meeting the needs of our customers at life's key moments. You will be based at our registration office in Town Hall, one of the oldest buildings within Leicester City. The role offers no hybrid working and requires presence at the office. The position involves working on a rota basis to cover service needs on weekends and bank holidays.
What You'll Be Doing
- Register births, deaths and still-births and conduct and register marriages and civil partnerships.
- Answer complex queries from the public via email and phone.
- Perform ceremonies in accordance with statutory and corporate requirements.
- Carry out general administrative tasks, take payments and produce legal documents (e.g., marriage, birth or death certificates).
- Retrieve archives, climbing steps and/or ladders as required.
What You'll Need
- Remain calm under pressure and adapt to changes in duties at very short notice.
- Have excellent attention to detail, accuracy and organisational skills to meet strict deadlines and appointments.
- Strong IT skills for administrative tasks.
- Legible handwriting for legal documents.
- Proficient interpersonal skills, communicating with people from all backgrounds and maintaining customer privacy, confidentiality and protection of sensitive data.
- Experience training staff to deliver high standard customer service and handle contentious situations.
- Ability to climb steps and/or ladders for retrieving archives.
- Subject to a basic DBS check.

Salary and Benefits
Salary: £28,598 - £31,022 Per Year (pro rata for part time hours). Total benefit value (includes pension contribution and full holiday entitlement): £42,300.
Location: Town Hall, Leicester – central location.
Open Until: Assessments will take place week commencing the 6th July, followed by interviews for successful candidates week commencing 13th July 2026.
