Overview
City Highways is responsible for maintaining and repairing over 500 miles of roads and 800 miles of footpaths and for delivering winter service and gully cleansing. The Plant and Logistics Team supports operational needs through the loading of materials, spoil collection and vehicle maintenance. This is a full‑time, permanent role based at 90 Leycroft Road.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage the plant and logistics staff programme to support Operations requests.
- Brief staff and provide clear direction, organise routine servicing and repairs.
- Respond to equipment deliveries and spoil collections.
- Maintain accurate plant service records and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and corporate procedures.
- Investigate plant damage and theft.
- Obtain prices, raise purchase orders and support procurement for goods and services.
- Operate and drive plant vehicles and equipment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience supervising teams and strong communication skills.
- Good understanding of Health and Safety legislation, PUWER, LOLER and plant repair practices.
- Working knowledge of waste regulations and management of waste transfer facilities (e.g., WAMITAB Level 4).
- Ability to liaise with clients and suppliers tactfully.
- Up‑to‑date Certificate of Professional Competence in road transport (CPC).
- Full driving licence required; HGV licence advantageous.
