Description: Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent People are at the heart of everything we do. As a People Manager within Estates & Building Services, you'll play a pivotal role in helping our people thrive while shaping the future of one of Leicester City Council's largest and most diverse services. This is not a traditional management role. We're looking for experienced people leaders who enjoy developing others, improving the way services operate, and creating environments where individuals and teams can perform at their best. Working across the whole EBS division, you'll support service managers and teams by embedding consistent people management practices, strengthening processes and ways of working, and helping to build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and high performance. EBS manages the largest property portfolio in Leicester, delivering everything from corporate estate management and capital projects to facilities management, sustainability programmes and property support services. Behind every successful project are great people, and that's where you come in. You'll work alongside EBS’s senior management team to understand the challenges facing different teams, identify opportunities to improve performance and ways of working, and introduce practical solutions that make a real difference. Whether it's improving team structures, coaching managers, streamlining processes or supporting organisational change, you'll help ensure our people have everything they need to succeed. You don't need to be an estates or property expert. What matters is your ability to build relationships, coach and influence others, and bring people together to solve problems. You'll be someone who enjoys listening, asking questions, challenging constructively and helping teams find better ways of working. As a People Manager you will

  • Coach, mentor and support managers and teams to build capability and confidence.
  • Introduce and embed effective people management processes and standards across the division.
  • Help improve performance through clear objectives, regular feedback and meaningful development conversations.
  • Support organisational change, service improvements and transformation programmes.
  • Champion employee wellbeing, inclusion, engagement and professional development.
  • Manage key people processes across the employee lifecycle, including induction, attendance, wellbeing, performance and development.
  • Work collaboratively across services to strengthen relationships and improve how teams work together.
  • Use insight and feedback to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and help deliver lasting change.

This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact. You'll influence how one of the Council's key services develops, helping to create a modern, high-performing organisation where people feel supported, valued and empowered to do their very best work. In return, you'll join a forward-thinking service that values innovation, collaboration and continuous learning. You'll have the opportunity to develop your own leadership skills while helping others reach their full potential, knowing that the work you do contributes directly to better services for the people of Leicester.
