Full Time / 37 Hours Per week / Permanent

Play a key role in supporting the tenants, leaseholders and residents of Leicester to provide a better and safer neighbourhood. Join our dedicated team working to maintain Leicester City Council's high quality, local tenancy, and estate management services. In this rewarding role, you’ll keep up to date with initiatives, legislation, and standards. You’ll liaise with Councillors, Police, Health Workers, and other council departments to be a visible presence for tenants, leaseholders and residents providing advice, information and reports on all housing matters.

This is a full time, permanent position working 37 hours a week Monday to Friday. You may occasionally have to work outside normal office hours from a variety of locations to conduct house visits and attend meetings. You’ll have flexibility in hybrid working being both office based, at Leicester office or working remotely from home to suit the needs of the service.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Carrying out welfare visits, identify, assess, and assist vulnerable tenants to sustain tenancies. This could be in relation to concerns of safeguarding or tenants who have disabilities and additional needs.
  • Prepare action plans, refer, and liaise with supported agencies, including arranging case conferences.
  • Carry out inspections and, where applicable, issue warning letters when tenants are not complying.
  • Deal with challenging behaviours from tenants who may have substance misuse issues or are facing difficult circumstances.
  • Proactively ensure compliance with legislation including participating in fire inspections, fire risk assessments and fire audits; coordinate remedial works and update and maintain database records.

What you’ll need:

  • Experience in social housing/welfare, or environment with experience working with the public and managing sensitive and sometimes difficult situations.
  • Confident in providing accurate advice on tenancy and property rights.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to raise awareness and work closely with tenants, repairs services and customer services to deliver an effective service.
  • Resilient with strong interpersonal skills to engage with tenants and build a trusting relationship.
