Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term for 2 Years. You will work as an apprentice toward achieving a recognised Level 3 Apprenticeship as a Homelessness Officer Apprentice. The service provides advice on housing options and a comprehensive homelessness prevention service on behalf of the council. The role supports individuals and families who are homeless or in temporary accommodation to transition to settled and sustainable accommodation. The post will be across two teams, the Homelessness Prevention Team and the Transitions Team, with opportunities to gain experience in both areas. The role is full time, 37 hours per week for 2 years, with work locations including York House, Dawn Centre and City Hall. Typical working hours are Monday to Friday, 9.00am–5.00pm.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside frontline staff to develop and gain experience required to achieve the Level 3 Apprenticeship.
- In the Homelessness Prevention Team, work with Homelessness Prevention Officers to retain current accommodation and/or provide other housing resolutions; review, update and develop personalised housing plans to retain or obtain accommodation.
- Assist Homelessness Prevention Officers during face‑to‑face and telephone assessments.
- In the Transitions Team, work with the Transitions Worker to deliver housing‑related support to homeless singles, childless couples and families to enable transition to more settled accommodation using a holistic approach; delivery is face‑to‑face and by telephone.
- Collaborate with other professional services (primary health care teams including mental health, police and probation services, children’s and adults social services) and voluntary organisations to facilitate sustainable accommodation.
- Coordinate with other LCC housing teams to support customers.
