Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term for 6 Months. The Housing Finance team is part of the BSC, and we maximise the collection of rent, repairs charges, leaseholder charges and process Right To Buy applications. The role contributes to the efficient, accurate and timely operation of the housing financial functional activities and financial systems. Ensuring rents, service charges, invoices, right to buy and leaseholder accounts are effectively administered and assessed. This is a full time, fixed term position working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday (for 6 months). You’ll be based at Town Hall (hybrid working may be considered).

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Day to day assess, monitor and progress right to buy applications, revenue accounts for tenants and leaseholders, including charging for services and rechargeable repair debt and progress any overdue debts.
  • Address internal and external enquiries for housing revenue accounting and administration.
  • Respond to various forms of correspondence, including right to buy applications and leaseholder statements of account.
  • Support preparatory investigation for raising invoices for housing type debts, assessing likelihood and ability to pay, and determining enforcement options to assist income collection and legal officers.
  • Reconcile housing related revenue accounts including account charges, income received, housing benefit postings and adjustments.
  • Monitor leasehold debt cases, assess likelihood and ability to pay, and determine enforcement options.

What You’ll Need

  • Significant experience working in a customer-focused environment: face‑to‑face, telephone and written communication.
  • Experience managing a range of IT systems, including substantial experience of computerised package operations.
  • Experience in debt recovery or a housing environment; knowledge of right to buy and tenancy management legislation and best practice in relation to housing.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as an active member of a team to meet deadlines and objectives.

Location Town Hall, Central

Salary GBP 28,598 - 31,022 per year. Total benefit value (includes pension contribution and full holiday entitlement): GBP 42,300.
