Position: Family Time Practitioner
Contract: Full time, 37 hours per week, Fixed term until April 2027 due to maternity leave.
Location: Various locations across Leicester City.
Salary: £32,061 – £34,434 per year.

What You\’ll Be Doing
As a Family Time Practitioner, you’ll supervise, monitor, assess and evaluate family time between children, parents, and other family members, which form part of wider assessment processes e.g. for Social Workers and the courts.
You will develop positive and sensitive relationships with children and their families, providing support, training, and advice on parenting skills within agreed programmes of work, including parent’s groups and one‑to‑one work.
You will maintain accurate written records of family time sessions, parenting assessments, and produce regular reports using strong IT skills.
You will work closely with colleagues within Families Together, Social Workers, and other professionals to ensure that the Council’s statutory child protection and safeguarding duties are fulfilled.
You will chair team meetings and peer groups, read out reports within review settings, and manage group settlements, helping to develop confidence and leadership skills.
What You\’ll Need
Previous work experience working with children under 8 years of age and with children and families from a variety of backgrounds.
Knowledge of child development and how parenting impacts on child development.
Holding an NNEB certificate, NVQ Level 3 or BTEC Diploma in caring studies or equivalent.
Strong communication skills in formal and informal settings, with the ability to defuse situations, challenge undesirable behaviour and safeguard.
Proficiency with PCs, IT systems and relevant programmes to complete reports and court documents.
Own vehicle, valid clean full driving licence and appropriate business insurance covering the carriage of children.
