Description: Part Time / 20 Hours Per Week / Permanent The LeicesterCare Emergency Control Centre provides an emergency alarm service to anyone who feels vulnerable or alone, whatever their age or needs. Offering reassurance, support, and peace of mind by providing a direct link to a caring control centre around the clock, every day of the year. Requests for assistance can be raised directly by the person pressing a help button, or by automatic Care Technology sensors detecting events such as falls, doors opening and beds being unoccupied etc. When the request for assistance is received at our local control room, your role will be to support the person and understand what help is required, organising assistance, contacting relatives, neighbours, carers, doctors, and/or the emergency services as required. This is a part time, permanent position working 20 hours a week. For this you'll need to be able to work a 7 day rotating shift pattern covering morning, afternoon and evening shifts. Your role will specifically help cover the three shifts per day between 7:00am and 10:30pm.

What You’ll Be Doing

Day to day you’ll handle a variety of calls received at LeicesterCare so that people in need of assistance or reassurance are appropriately supported. Organising the appropriate response to their alarm call. Working with the person calling, their nominated responders, their GP or health professionals, emergency services, social care services among other professionals who may be involved. As part of a team of 13 control room staff you’ll create strong links to other Social Care teams, especially the Care Technology and 24 hour crisis response services.

What You’ll Need

Your communication and problem-solving skills will be essential in this role. During a live call you will need to be able to pull together information from various sources, e.g., what the person is saying, how they are sounding, previous contacts, known situations, etc., to understand how you can best support their needs. Being confident in your decision making when organising a response, as well as being empathetic and reassuring to the person. You’ll also be able to use various IT systems. Including, the range of Microsoft Office applications, the Adult Social Care database and the Care Technology database.
