Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent. Help keep streets clean and tidy for residents and visitors to Leicester. Cleansing Services provide street cleaning operations to maintain a clean environment across the city. We work in the heart of the communities to ensure local areas are clean, safe, and free from environmental issues. We take pride in the work we carry out and in providing an attractive place to live.
You’ll be provided with the necessary equipment and a uniform. You’ll walk approximately 10 miles a day, in all weather conditions, and work different shifts. The hours are between 5:15 am and 8:30 pm, Monday to Saturday on a rota basis. The team is based at Castle Park Depot, 90 Leycroft Road, but you will work across the city. A full category B driving licence is essential.
What You’ll Be Doing
- In your designated area, you’ll remove litter, leaves, detritus, illegal dumping, dog fouling, graffiti, perform street washing and empty litter bins.
- During winter months you’ll support with snow clearance.
- You’ll maintain health and safety while working on the streets and report any environmental conditions such as hypodermic needles, asbestos, and hazardous waste to your Team Leader.

- You’ll be able to carry out cleaning duties using chemicals and equipment.
- You’ll be physically fit to undertake continuous manual work and walk for long periods.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills are required so you can work effectively in a team and respond politely to members of the public.
- A positive attitude and enthusiasm will help you commit to keeping our streets clean.
