Job Overview
Casual night shift positions (10pm–8am) across six children’s residential homes in the Leicester City suburbs. These roles focus on providing care, guidance, support, housekeeping, and safety oversight for children with challenging behaviours, disabilities, or complex health care needs. Shifts include weekends and bank holidays. Pay is £13.69–£14.59 p/h plus a 33.3% weekend/night premium. Waking night staff must remain alert on duty.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide consistent care for children and young people, ensuring their needs are met throughout the night.
• Conduct housekeeping duties such as cleaning surfaces, washing dishes, vacuuming, emptying waste bins, basic sewing repairs, and managing laundry (stripping beds, soiled clothing, sorting, washing, ironing, distributing linen).
• Report incidents or accidents involving children promptly to senior staff.
• Conduct risk assessments of the building and report any security breaches. Maintain accurate records relating to children and the team.
Required Skills & Experience
• Ability to build trusting relationships with children and young people and to approach situations diplomatically.
• Previous experience in a caring role with knowledge of moving and handling, and physical fitness to assist with lifting and personal care.
• Good communication skills for verbal handovers, note‑writing, and reporting including observations.
• Organised and able to manage own workload with minimal direction. Must be aged 21 or over.
• Under the Equality Act 2010, an enhanced DBS check, qualifications check and reference checks will be carried out upon offer.
