The predicted salary is between 13 - 13 £ per hour.
You are invited to join the Parks and Open Spaces team to improve the city’s landscape. Leicester boasts a diverse portfolio of open spaces, including parks, gardens, country parks, and nature areas with 150,000 individual trees, 107 hectares of woodlands, and numerous play and outdoor gym facilities. These spaces attract around 9 million visitors annually. You will be based at one of our grounds maintenance depots and work Monday to Friday from 7:30 am, with additional coverage required on weekends and bank holidays.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and apply chemicals, maintaining horticultural features.
- Keep sites clean and tidy, maintaining sports facilities such as artificial surfaces.
- Operate and maintain hand and mechanical specialist equipment in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
- Provide advice to users and ensure a high standard of customer service.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in horticulture, groundsmanship or a similar field.
- Knowledge and understanding of COSHH regulations and relevant health and safety issues (e.g., HASWA).
- Ability to carry out manual handling and lift heavy equipment and materials.
- Self‑directed working style with ability to work without close supervision, and strong teamwork skills.
- Full driving licence (required for driving duties).
